Program Title: The Three Religions of the Book Program
Length: 45 minutes – 1 hour
Program Availability: Thursdays, by request
Grade Level: 9-12
Program Description: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam share biblical roots. This program will look at one religion each week. Discussions will focus on each religion’s history, sacred writings, moral codes, and ritual customs. Throughout the program, some time will be given to commonalities and difference among the three religions of the book.
Program Objectives:

• That the participants become more familiar with the history and traditions of the three religions of the book.

• That the participants connect what they learn through this program with contemporary issues of relations among the three religions of the book.

• That the participants explore the various moral codes and worship styles of the three religions of the book.

• That the participants examine the potential of organized religion both for violence and for peace.
Brief Bio of Presenter: Marie A. Conn, PhD, is in her 18th year on the faculty of Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. Marie received her PhD in Theology from the University of Notre Dame, where she majored in Liturgical History and minored in Liturgical Theology and Ethics. She has published two books and served as co-contributing editor of three books of essays by Chestnut Hill faculty members. Her interests include women in religion, social justice issues, and biblical history.
